Native American Women's Association

The purpose of the Native American Women's Association (NAWA) is to address the needs and concerns of Native American people, with an emphasis on issues that affect Native American women. NAWA encourages its members to assume leadership roles on campus and become actively involved in the community.

In addition to participating in the Coalition of Women Students (CWS) events, NAWA provides and co-sponsors other programs and projects which enhance multicultural efforts at WSU. These include:

  • Native American Heritage Month activities.
  • Work in partnership with Ku-Au-Mah to plan and coordinate:
  • Pah-Loots-Pu Pow Wow: dinner
  • Round Dance: dinner
  • Sponsors Miss Pah-Loots-Pu to various events at the WSU campus during her reign.
  • Fundraising activities
  • Community projects including family social, skill building and crafting workshops.
  • Co-sponsor of speaker programs and other multicultural programs.

NAWA meets in the Native American Student Center, CUB 406. Meetings are held every Thursday at 3:00pm-4:30pm unless noted otherwise.

Women's Circle: Once a month. 6-8 pm @ the Native American Culture House "B" St.
